Google Meets Miss Manners, Encourages Searchers To Thank Those Who +1′d Content

DEAR MISS GOOGLE: When I searched for something using your service, I found a friend had +1′d one of the of listings. What should one do in this case? GENTLE SEARCHER: It’s always polite in these situations to thank your kind friend. In fact, I’ve added a new “Thank” feature allowing you to do exactly this, though Google+.
Yes, a new Google+ feature has been spotted in the wild that further blends organic results with social  information.  Early today State of Search and charliesaidthat noticed a thank you link on an organic listing next to the Google+ users who +1′d a result.
Yes, a new Google+ feature has been spotted in the wild that further blends organic results with social  information.  Early today State of Search and charliesaidthat noticed a thank you link on an organic listing next to the Google+ users who +1′d a result.
When logged in as a Google+ user, various editors here could see this functionality appearing sporadically on a range of search terms.  In order for the “Thank” link to show, the link in the results had to be +1′d from a circled user.   This functionality is currently only showing intermittently at the moment.  A Google rep did not comment further on this feature when asked for more information.
If a searcher did choose to thank someone for the +1, they were prompted to thank directly on Google+.  The message automatically contains the original +1er on the post:
This limited visibility post is shown directly on the wall of the user who is doing the thanking.  If you are looking to keep your appreciation of the +1 private, just make sure you don’t add in any other circles to the message:
Bas van den Beld performed a search related to the specific thank you post and found that some users were downright purplexed about the new communication:
So don’t be surprised next time you’re thanked for a +1 on your wall.  We will continue to follow up on this feature and any official announcements. For more info about digital marketing news visit  DigitalMarketingContest2012

RIP: Android Market Renamed Google Play

When Google’s Android Market launched three and a half years ago, it was a standalone app store that did not sell e-books, music, or videos. However, over the past year, the Android Market has grown into much more than an app store – they are now a major provider of digital content. As a result, Google has decided to change the name from Android Market to Google Play.
The change, which is primarily a branding move, will not substantially alter the functionalities or features that were available in the Android Market. Instead, Google Play repackages the Android app store, Google Music, and the Google eBookstore into one cloud-based “digital entertainment destination.”
The promotional video on the newly launched Google Play website emphasizes the cloud-based nature of Google Play. Similar to Apple’s iCloud, Google Play users can watch, listen to, or read content on one device and seamlessly pick up where they left off on a separate device.
Jamie Rosenberg, Google’s Director of Digital Content, said the following on the company blog:
“Starting today, Android Market, Google Music and the Google eBookstore will become part of Google Play. On your Android phone or tablet, we’ll be upgrading the Android Market app to the Google Play Store app over the coming days. Your videos, books and music apps (in countries where they are available) will also be upgraded to Google Play Movies, Google Play Books and Google Play Music apps. The music, movies, books and apps you’ve purchased will continue to be available to you through Google Play—simply log in with your Google account like always.”
Rosenberg’s post also highlighted the content and features that Google Play offers users. Google Play users will be able to use the service to download 450,000 Android apps, store 20,000 songs, browse e-books, and rent movies. In addition, Google made it clear that digital content purchased through Google’s earlier services will be compatible with Google Play.
To celebrate the rebranding, Google Play is offering users promotional pricing on a different album, book, video rental and Android app each day. for more info about digital marketing visit:-DigitalMarketingContest2012 regulary for more news on marketing and digital space

Google, Facebook Briefly Caught in Danish Child Porn Filter

Residents of Greenland and parts of Denmark awoke last Thursday to find they couldn't access Google, Facebook, or almost 8,000 other popular websites. Instead, users were greeted by the Danish child pornography (CP) “STOP” page, warning them the page they were trying to access contained offensive material prohibited from viewing. The message read, “The National High Tech Crime Center of the Danish National Police [NITEC], who assist in investigations into crime on the internet, has informed Siminn Denmark A/S, that the internet page which your browser has tried to get in contact with may contain material which could be regarded as child pornography.” Denmark’s controversial CP blocking program came under fire again, as the mistake exposed a number of flaws in the way the service is managed. That a single clerical error could result in the blocking of thousands of innocent websites is worrisome for many. AK Zensur, the German Working Group Against Access Blocking and Censorship, has been fighting the Danish block list for years, condemning the act of domain blocking by DNS hijacking as “looking away instead of acting.” In 2010, the group showed that with just a few emails, they could have entire sites, even those hosted in the U.S., taken down. In a sternly worded statement at the time, AK Zensur said, “Internet blocking does not fight abuse, in practice it only serves to conceal the failures of politics and police.” NITEC manager Johnny Lundberg told Danish media after last week’s three-hour shutdown that a police officer had been using a colleague’s computer in his investigation of over 8,000 domains on the list. He accidentally copied the file to the wrong directory, resulting in Google, Facebook, and others landing on the CP list. "We're obviously very bad with it. We think it is a very important service we have with this blocking filter, and therefore it is something bad when something happens and we will of course apologize for the inconvenience it has caused,” Lundberg said (translated to English). The incident raises a number of questions about the simplicity of a system with enough power to block out a substantial number of sites based on a single data input. It was the second time within a month Google has been misidentified as a threat. A Microsoft Forefront and Security Essentials update revealed an “incorrect detection” error that saw Google.com flagged as malware. sources:-http://searchenginewatch.com/article/2157462/Google-Facebook-Briefly-Caught-in-Danish-Child-Porn-Filter

Google doodles celebrate Gioachino Rossini's 220th birthday and Leap Year

Google doodles celebrate Gioachino Rossini's 220th birthday and Leap Year

Today Google is celebrating Gioachino Rossini's 220th birthday. It's a day which rarely comes into the calender, Google has doodled with two-in-one rare doodle that commemorates not only the leap year day but also it's a 220th birth of the Italian composer Gioachino Rossini.

This year is leap year and today is leap day and both are associated with frogs, the leaping amphibians, so today Goolge doodle has a number of frog on it's logo, all four of them.

Google doodles celebrate Gioachino Rossini's 220th birthday and Leap Year

Gioachino Antonio Rossini was born into a family of musicians in Pesaro, a town on the Adriatic coast of Italy which was then part of the Papal States. His father, Giuseppe, was a horn player and inspector of slaughterhouses. His mother, Anna, was a singer and a baker's daughter. Rossini's parents began his musical training early, and by the age of six he was playing the triangle in his father's musical group.
Gioachino Antonio Rossini

Gioachino Antonio Rossini's was the famous 1816 comic opera The Barber of Seville,  one of the most performed operas. Of the four frogs in the scene, one is at the piano and the soprano is the only one leaping. The barber frog is Figaro and the frog getting a shave is Count Almaviva (Characters created by French playright Pierre Beaumarchais and The Barber of Seville is one of the three Figaro plays penned by him).

Google doodle of Gioachino Rossini leap year is the third leap year doodle in Google's history. Before that the previous two were put up in 2004 and 2008. And before that there was no Google doodle in the year 2000.
If I am not wrong this is the 1314th Google doodle since the first ever on for the Burning Man Festival back on August 30, 1998.
A leap year is the year which contain one additional day, its because of keeping the calender year synchronized with the astronomical or seasonal year. Because seasons and astronomical events do not repeat in a whole number of days, a calendar that had the same number of days in each year would, over time, drift with respect to the event it was supposed to track.
Code to determine Leap Year

Algorithm

Pseudocode to determine whether a year is a leap year or not in either the Gregorian calendar since 1582 or in the proleptic Gregorian calendar before 1582:
if year modulo 4 is 0
   then
if year modulo 100 is 0
           then
if year modulo 400 is 0
                   then
                       is_leap_year
               else
                   not_leap_year
       else is_leap_year
else not_leap_year
or as a boolean expression
is_leap_year = ( year modulo 4 is 0 ) and ( ( year modulo 100 is not 0 ) or ( year modulo 400 is 0 ) )

It was a day of Cricket and for Cricket Lovers !!

No one even thought in the early morning when Sri Lanka was batting that India will fight back and at the end Cricket will win. At the early begining of the match the way SriLankan Players(especially Dilshan and Sangakkara) were batting, it was looking like India has given up. But who knows Cricket is a FUNNY game. you can’t predict anything in Cricket. The way Indians played(especially KOHLI), they kept themself alive for the finals.
I don’t think this tournament can come in any better way, at the halfway stage, Sri Lanka would have felt they had one foot in the final, having left the India bowlers deflated after a dominating performance with the bat. And they would have been right to think that way, the Indian batting having shown little promise in the series and the team on the brink of elimination.
But Virat Kohli put a master peice of strokemaking, Kohli’s innings made a mockery of an imposing score, kept India’s finals hopes alive and left Sri Lanka having to beat Australia for a third time in the tournament to knock India out.
Hope for Reaching in Final is still Alive.. here how it possible..

Now India and SL both is having same 15 points, in this case if Sl is loosing the match against Australia then this is the way two best team is goign to decide.
In the event of teams finishing on equal points, the right to play in the final match or series will be determined as follows:

•The team with the most number of wins
•If still equal, the team with the most number of wins over the other team(s) who are equal on points and have the same number of wins
•If still equal, the team with the highest number of bonus points
•If still equal, the team with the highest net run rate

In a match declared as no result, run rate is not applicable.

So comming Friday Cheers for Australia and Hope for the best for Indian Cricket.
